OT Power Brakes

My 90 Blazer S10 has started making a sound like air escaping when I push the brake pedal down. The sound is inside the car and is down at floor boardd and fire wall. The brakes are still good but there is a little bit of back pressure on the pedal. Could it be the power brake booster?

Re: OT Power Brakes

I'd be betting on a flakey vacuum switch used to halt the Speed Control when you touch the brake.

Re: OT Power Brakes

Thanks for the infomation Leve,I will check out the switch. Would that switch cause the back preassure on the brake pedal?

Re: OT Power Brakes

this sounds similar to a problem i having with a dual diaphram booster out of a Astro van that i swapped into my cj-8.

my situation: the pedal is very difficult to get started moving. once i get the pedal past the first 1/4" of travel, the brakes work so well they almost lock up the tires. i tried swapping MC's, looked for binding linkage, and checked for a stuck caliper or wheel cylinder. so far, i have narrowed it down to the booster. i know there is a little check-valve in the vacuum line, but don't really know if this is the problem. my vacuum source is the intake manifold on the AMC 360.

any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Re: OT Power Brakes

Found my brake problem, it was the power brake booster,Got one from AutoZone, brakes ok now I checked with NAPA also and their price was $40.00 higher, go figure.
