q-jet air cleaner question

Hey all,

I put a Q-jet carb on my Chevy 305. I had to use an adapter for my intake which raised it about 3/4 inch or so.

I got the carb from a suburbon and I was going to use the same air cleaner but its to tall.

Does anybody know what doner vehicle I can get a lower profile air cleaner for it?

Thanks.

Re: q-jet air cleaner question

any generic cleaner will fit. Get a chevy style and the order a K and N filter with the maximum height. Most of the cleaners are 14 inch diameter.
Edelbrock also makes a super low profile "bug eye" cleaner pretty cheap made just for clearance problems.

type in edelbrock cleaner on ebay and the low prof's are all over

Re: q-jet air cleaner question

Ok, if thats the case, why didn't the crome edelbrock air cleaner that was mounted on an edelbrock carb fit? It didn't have enough clearance under the air cleaner to clear the moving parts on the carb.

You might look for a early 80'S (82-84) Camaro or Firebird V8 air cleaner. I remember them being pretty thin and since they were used on a Q-Jet they should hopefully clear yours.
