Re: SUV haters..have yall seen this???

They listed the fuel economy of a Jeep Cherokee at 12.7mpg. Now that's a built XJ! 454, nitrous, blown...

Seriously, my V8 Grand Cherokee gets 15mpg in the city and 17-18 on the highway, with 165,000 miles.

Really, I now hope the FEd's put an FET tax on bicycle tires. If they want to recruit the bicyclist to push the SUV's off the road, let them same cyclysts start paying road use taxes to ride on them.

Re: SUV haters..have yall seen this???

They are obviously forgetting that the great big awkward conversion vans that they haul their bikes around (while they pose as tree huggers) barely get better than 10mpg and don't even have 4wd... talk about poor handling, maneuvering and braking. Not to mention just plain ol' ugly!!!

Rant off.

Re: SUV haters..have yall seen this???

I don't agree with their tactics, but if you read the whole thing, they are asking for manufacturers to step up and make more efficient vehicles. I am all for cleaner air. Have you ever been to a 3rd world country where the vehicles are either deisel or carbed with no emmisions? Were you happy to leave the city? They also point out that "Only 5% of people ever use 4 wheel drive". Well, we do. So we are part of the 5% using these vehicles as they were designed and this group doesn't seem to have a problem with this.

They seem to be after the local soccer mom in the v-10 Excursion. I have to agree with them that that is wasteful to be running to the grocery store in a vehicle like that. But, like is said in the little Ticket you can print out, until the car companies make something more effecient, no one has that option.

Re: SUV haters..have yall seen this???

There was an article in the alternative paper here in Charlotte a couple months back. The jist of it was that all of thse people were complaing about having to share a road with all these oversized vehicles that take up twice the room on the highway that normal cars do, and etc. What I'm thinking is, how can you say that a Jeep.. (Cj, Wrangler, or cherokee) takes up more room than say a cadillac?? or a lincoln towncar??? unless you're talking vertically?? but who's cares about that? what are you gonna do? drive over me if i have a shorter vehicle??? And also.. about the gas mileage and emissions and etc... why don't they pick on these people who drive around these old beat up cars that make you lightheaded if you get behind them because of the fumes???

Well... off my soapbox for now...
