\'87 YJ exhaust question

I was wondering, what the exhaust from pipe nipple (output tube) and teh catalytic converter ouput go to on the original 4.2L. I had installed the Weber so long ago that I cannot remember. I am getting a new fron pipe and a new cat due to road salt eating them up and I can't remember what their purpose was. Could someone please help. Thank you.

Re: \'87 YJ exhaust question

They fed into the Pulse Air Check valves, these were fed by a valve which would allow air from the air cleaner to flow into the Cat and the exhaust system. Gone and better left forgotten.

Re: \'87 YJ exhaust question

I'm replacing the front pipe and cat, can I just plug those two outlet pipes? What should I use to plug them with? Also, can I get the front pipe and cat without those outlets? Thanks.

Re: \'87 YJ exhaust question

Yes you can just plug them. On your new cat it might come with a plug, if not just find something like a short fat bolt that threads into the hole or make up some sort of plug out of brass fittings. On the exhaust side, I think there is just a small fitting to weld a tube to, just plug it with a short bolt of the right diameter and weld it in.
