Cage is in

I put the cage in first of the week and the spray in bedliner. It's a little wide at the bottom for my half door (maybe 1/4" a side). I am thinking I can adjust that when I tie it to the frame though. Here is what is looks like.

Re: Cage is in

When I built the cage for my CJ7 I wanted the feet on the front hoop out as far as possible. I installed a horizontal spreader just below the windshield and pushed the feet out with that. When I went to install the cage the feet wouldn't fit past the door openings. I used one of those 2" wide ratchet straps to pull the feet in while I was dropping the cage in. I was able to get 1-1.5" of pull with the ratchet easily. If you haven't already mounted the front feet you could try pulling them together with a strap. I would bet you can easily get the clearance you need for your half doors.

Later,
Tom

Re: Cage is in

It's coming right along. I take it you have checked that the top still fits? Where is the beer keg?

Re: Cage is in

Tom that's what I was thinking about doing (actually I was thinking come-a-long but a ratchet strap would probably be better). Then when I do my tie in's to the frame they should hold it in enough to clear them.

Re: Cage is in

Top still fits it is on right now with the bright red 1/2 doors and grey uppers. The uppsers don't conform too well and I don't have lower door brackets on just yet so I am hoping they will fit better then. I don't think I will have to tweak the body any everything seems to match up just fine (which is a miracle considering chopping it all up and welding in all the new pieces). If the beer keg was stainless it would be in already. I can't weld aluminum so I have to wait on others to get around to it. I also have been waiting on jeg's to send me the flush mount cap (complete with vent).

Re: Cage is in

so whats going behind the tub besides your keg? Are you putting in some type of tool box or something to store your pull straps, etc. Sorry if this has been covered in another post, I haven't seen it, not able to hang around as much anymore...

Re: Cage is in

Undecided exactly what will be on the back as of yet. I am going to do a hoop that will protect the hardtop somehwhat and two down bars. Maybe a spare tire and a small bed with no sides. Contico makes some nice small diamond tread tool boxes I was thinking about mounting one on each side. My tool set will probably go between the seats. I have a winch for the back but I might just put it on my other Jeep. I am not in a huge hurry to complete the back I want to wheel it first.......
