Burnt jeep!??

Hi there, local wreckers has a yj that was in a fire! The jeep is burnt to a crisp as well as the frame. I was wondering is the strength of frame now compermised due to the extreme temps it must of been in, plus is it worth my while for $50 cdn dollars.

Re: Burnt jeep!??

It depends on how hot the frame got. I have seen plenty of trucks that burnt and where brought back to life again. The problem with a fire is the frame gets hot and then the Firefighter dump could water on it. So that hardens the steel. Take a center punch and hammer with you and see if the frame is harden anywhere. If it is still soft everywhere if will be ok. One other thing make sure it didnt bow from the heat.
