where is \'98 TJ D35 BOM #?

the shop that does my axle rebuilds needs the BOM # off the D35 that i am going to be taking them to regear for a friend. i looked at the housing last night (it was dark) and didn't see the BOM # where i thought it would be. any help, info or pictures of the location of the BOM would be greatly appreciated!

I know on the 44's its on the right side tube if you're looking at the diff cover about halfway between the cover and the spring.

Re: where is \'98 TJ D35 BOM #?

It should be on a tag attached with 2 bolts for the diff cover. If I'm not mistaken it is on the passenger side of the housing if someone hasn't previously removed it.

What are you having done? I don't see why they would need the BOM for a TJ D35. I know that the 93 D35 changed from using different carriers per having ABS to using all ABS equipped carriers even for the non ABS so some stuff is different.

Most axle builders have parts listed by BOM # instead of make and model. It's easier for them to know for sure rather than guess which dana 35 BOM # to use.

thanks for the info!

i thought about looking for the tag on the diff cover after i left the axle...i'll look for it tonight.

a "BOM" is a Bill of materials number. kinda like a model/batch # for a part.

Once you have a bill of materials number, you can go <a target="_blank" href=http://www2.dana.com/expert/wc.dll?cvsp~Deabill~>here</a> to find out what it had from the factory. There is only from around 1978 and newer on there though.
