Re: Stainless Steel CJ7

I enjoy working with stainless also. We tig weld it at work and you can make some fine looking beads! I have seen this CJ on the net before and it is just too cool!

Re: Stainless Steel CJ7

Yeah, it's cool but hardly an original idea.

Re: Stainless Steel CJ7

thinking of shinny 4x4s. In the early 80s my dad stripped the paint off has land rover and polished it. Nice shiny aluminum.

Re: Stainless Steel CJ7

This must be a new web page for this Jeep. It used to be http://combi.agri.ch/tvp/jeep/default.htm. On his old one he had the fax number incorrect and I e-mailed him and he corrected it. However I tried to fax Casty Offroad for information on the ss body and they never got back to me. It is confirmed that the body is a MDJuan. Not everybody's cup of tea, bet it will outlast us all though.

Re: Stainless Steel CJ7

It's pretty slow. I've been getting a lot of nickle-dime jobs in the shop lately, and haven't had much time for it. But I have made some progress lately. I took the frame to the galvanizing shop last Monday, and it should be finished today or tomorrow. The body is almost ready to start installing it when the chassis is ready. I've ordered new body mounts and SS brake lines. The body mounts should get here today, but the brake lines won't get here for at least another week.

I knew this wasn't a three-week project. Now I'm hoping it's a six-month project. I shoulda cancelled the insurance.

Re: Stainless Steel CJ7

Personally that is too shiny for me. Granted show trucks are cool, but that's just too... shiny. I would be afraid of hitting something that would scratch it up, since almost anything would show on that. However, it does look cool in it's own way.
