Custom Dash?Gauges Question

I am planning a custom dash for my CJ with Autometer Gauges for everything. But my question is, what have you people done for the blinker lights, engine light(if applicable), Brake light, and 4WD light. Does somebody out there sell a little box that houses these lights for a custome dash. I thought maybe
I could tear apart my old speedo and take out the blinker arrows and 4WD and Brake things and make somethng to hold them and lights behind them in the dash, but not sure.

Thanks
Shawn

Re: Custom Dash?Gauges Question

There are aftermarket dash lights, switches, etc. Most of the ones I have dealt with are usually expensive billet aluminum ones for street rods. You could take yours apart and use the guts though. I used the majority of the stck equipment, and added a new section for Autometer & Rancho gauges, not a total custom dash, but another alternative.

Re: Custom Dash?Gauges Question

I recently replaced my guages with a custom panel not a lot different than the picture above except I also replaced the speedo. Sorry, I do not have a picture. I used all Autometer Sport Comp with a small 2 1/2" tach on the right side of the steering column. On the left side of the steering column is a 2 1/2" air pressure guage.

For lights, I purchased small LED lights from from Jegs that came in Painless packages. I think they required a 5/16" hole. I left out the brake and 4wd light. The turn signal lights are placed on each side of the steering column also and are red and green (for port and starbird if you are into sailing). The bright light is over the speedo.

Later, Ken

Re: Custom Dash/Gauges Question

Thanks for the replies.
pmb, that is the redest red I have ever seen on my computer, that dash looks good.

I might end up making something myself, unless someone else has some more input.
Thanks

Re: Custom Dash?Gauges Question

I don't have any pics of mine, but I used SS button head bolts with colored LED's in them that I got from Doug at CBrack.com for all the indicator lights in my custom SS dash (also fab'ed by Doug).

Not sure whaere ibscrmbln got his, but my air pressure gauge is an Autometer unit I got thru Jegs. They have them in three styles, Sport (style I have), Carbon and Black.
