Is this a dumb question?

I installed a ne speedo cluster taht I bought from Krage Motorsports and the temp gauge doesn't work. I took notes when I removed the old one. I don't think I switched the wires around when I put it back in. If I did, would this cause the gauge not to work, or would it fry it? I spent three hours on this project, I hope I didn't ruin anything. Help please.

New guy.

Re: Is this a dumb question?

You don't say what jeep you have, but CaverDave has the URL for gauges right. I used it to diagnose the problems on my '74 CJ5. This is the Holy Word of gauges. Test the gauge before you do anything radical like sending the cluster back. The short answer is you CAN screw a gauge up....but you probably didn't yet. Run the diagnostic out and let us know what you come up with.

Re: Is this a dumb question?

My only note on working on the cluster guages:

Do not use a lot of force when tightening the nuts on the posts on teh back. these things are mounted in cardboard ans strip out real easy. and when the strip you just ruined the inside of the guage. I gave up on those dumb [censored] guages, not to mention they are useless with out actual numbers for acuracey.
