Maybe I should\'ve done this.....

I came across a newbie jeeper the other day. He had just bought a CJ with a 304 t18 dana 20 combo. He didn't like the way the t18 drove. I began to tell him that I had a three speed that I had taken out of my CJ. He then asked me if I would trade him straight up!! I almost fell over. I told him that he didn't want a three speed and that he had a very sought after transmission. And also if he should decide he doesn't want it to make sure he asked for at least $450. Maybe I should have traded him, maybe I did the right thing. Just thought I would share my story.

Right on man, you did the right thing. Sure you could have been underhanded & swore up & down that "real" off-roaders love a 3 speed, but you didn't. Glad to hear there are good honest people still out there. Pat yourself on the back for also helping a newbie out - remember, we were all wheelin' newbies at one time.

You know. Brad, all day long I have to write serious reports, telling plant operators how their 4000 AMP main is frying, and how generator number three is junk and if they don't change so and so the plant will burn down The little moon guys are a welcome comic relief.

That's what real Jeepers do. Help out your fellow Jeeper.

Now. When somebody's letting a good old Jeep sit going to pot, and you can do them a BIG favor and give them $500.00 and get it off their property.....

You're obviously cut from finer cloth .... so to speak. You could have taken the guy ...... but, as your true character shows, you'ld probably have regretted it. Guilt is the gift that keeps on giving. Many would have said "Go ahead .... if you don't somebody else will"....... well that's not for me ........ or, as it appears, for you either. Good work!

It is never "wrong" to do something "right". I have a saying, & forgive me for being rude, but it goes like this:

When you f*** someone in the a**, guess who ends up covered in s***.

You did the right thing & you'll sleep better for it.

Next time you see that kid with the T-18, explain to him that he basically HAS a 3-speed now. In GM trucks, that "granny" gear on the SM465 is actually labeled as "L", not "1". So, it's L, 1, 2, 3 instead of 1, 2, 3, 4. He should think of it that way.

Alec, I don't want to make this look as though everyone is falling all over themselves to pat you on the back for doing the righteous thing that you were supposed to do it the first place, but with a POS dirtbag in the oval office, we need all the really worthwhile and decent Americans we can get, and believe me, it doesn't hurt to hear something halfway good now and then.

Re: Hey CJDave

What are you saying Dave, you don't need any decent foreigners in this country? Or can you only find decent Americans in the world? Please clearify.
