Wagoneer to YJ swaps

I have a 87 wrangler with a 258 and 5spd that is currently not running. I figure if I'm going to rebuild something I may as well go big or go home. I've got the oppurtunity to buy an 85 wagoneer with a 360 and and an automatic of some sort. I'm wondering how much of it's drivetrain I could swap to my YJ. I know the 360 will work but I'm not sure about the manual to auto tranny swap, is it possible? I know my tranny is junk anyway and I wouldn't mind having an automatic. I'm also not sure about the T-case from the wag. It's T-case shifter is right beside the drivers seat, but I have no idea what kind of T-case this is, any ideas? I'm hoping the axles will swap to but I don't know if the wag is wide or narrow track yet. Ideally I'd swap in the whole drivetrain and just have some new drive shafts fabed up, is this a possibillity? Sorry about that lack of details on the wagoneer, I'll know more about it soon. Links to documents on 360 and axle swaps would be very helpful.

Re: Wagoneer to YJ swaps

everything will work.. that would be a really good.. and easy swap.. as far as going from manual to automatic.. you will need something like an automatic shifter from b&m.. floor mount.. its a good auto.. i think your transfer case will bolt right up to it.. not 100% sure.. since im not a big yj guy.. but they have the same bolt pattern.. just not sure on the splines.. and the axles are about perfect.. a few inches wider than what you have.. but you can still stay legal.. i have a waggy front.. and i cut my rear to match.. i love them..

do a search on this subject.. you'll find a ton of information..
