Please Help me with a 77 Cj-7!

Hello all, very new to this game, and have a 77 cj-7 with 304 and a 3 spd. I bought it very rusty and have replaced fenders, tub and windshield, looks great! wiring underhood is another stroy, anyone have the schematic for it, or just very general ways to test starting system. Won't even turn over. i have chilton and haynes manuals, neither have detailed enough info for me to use. loose wires to nowhere everywhere! I don't care if it is oe or not, i just want it to run! please help, and end of my patience. thanks guys

The haynes wiring diagram should be plenty detailed. I have a 79 and it shows everything I have. BTW, your profile is still blank.

I've got the '77 service manual with the wiring schematic. But I don't have a scanner. If you can't find them I can copy and fax them to you if you'd like. PM me with a # to fax to and I'll see if I can help you with the schematic.

If it's that bad off in the wiring department, might you be interested in a new wiring harness? they can be had from Jeep parts suppliers for a range of prices depending on how easy you to make it. You can work on electical gremlins for the rest of your natural life with these old CJs

Re: Please Help me with a 77 Cj-7!

The electrical gremlins do exist. I saw one jump out from under my hood the other day but I wasn't able to catch him. I've only had my CJ-5 for a month now and with the fiberglass body I lose a ground pretty easily. Right now my turn signals work, but the parking lights don't. Go figure. Who knows what will go next, but once I can afford it I'm going to get a new wiring harness. Good luck to both of us.
