Pro-jection probl again - see what Holley does

I sent this email off to Holley about my latest problem. I'll post an update when I hear back from them. (I should've spent the extra for a Howell.)

Hi,

I am the once proud owner of a 670 cfm pro-jection 2D. Now two years later, I've had three fuel injectors go bad and now a throttle position sensor. I've called and talked to James, Shane, and Woody. All have been a big help in tracking down the problems I've had (none of which were because of me). I tried calling twice today but after waiting for more than 5 minutes, I figured this was going to be the quickest way to get ahold of someone even if it takes overnight. My time is valuable too.

Two months ago I had the throttle position sensor go bad. I called and was told that the replacement was GM part #17110674. This cross referenced to a Wells part #TPS114. The Wells part did not have slotted holes to adjust the voltage reading, just two round holes. I slotted the holes and now, two months later, I am having the same problem with this throttle position sensor that I had with the last one. The voltage is not within specs and the engine runs very rich and will barely idle with black exhaust. I called GM and they want $92 for the sensor but don't have one in stock to even check to see if it has slotted holes.

Can you either send me the correct throttle position sensor (for $45 if you won't send one free) or buy back my pro-jection system? I'm on the fence as far as recommending this system to others and if you stand behind your products like your web page says, I can at least let others know what kind of support they can expect from Holley if they go this route. I can also send back the throttle position sensor that came with the system if you'd like to analyze it for quality control purposes.

Thank you

Will McFadden, E.I.

Well, here's their great customer service reply:

The 2D tps can be bought through any holley dealer under part number
543-3. I would recommend calling someone like summit or jegs. Thanks

I have a Pro-Jection 2D sitting on my shielf because I could never get it to run correctly. I went as far as sending the ECU back to Holley to be tested and they said everything is fine.... I feel your pain.

I called summit and they have the replacement sensor for $32. That's less than the one I got at the parts store and should already have the slotted holes. I guess I should have called summit first.

Re: Pro-jection probl again - see what Holley does

I got another reply from them. This person needs some grammar and spelling lessons.

Sorry i cant sale you a TPS. You can order one through a Holley dealer.
If your local dealers
dont have one or they wont order one for you. Try summit racing or jegs.
Holley hasnt had any
problems with the tps supplied with the kits. However they our not water
proof. If the tps is
subject to alot of water then this could cause problems. If this isnt a
concern then you should
have any problem with replacing the tps and getting good service out of it.

Thanks Chris
