258 timing chain

I chnaged my timing chain last October, and it stretched again after only 10000Km. So once again Iīm going to change it and a mechanic friend of mine told me that there was a double chain that uses double gears. I checked with my local parts shop and they couldīnt give me an answer on this. Does this double chain exist and where can i buy one?

Re: 258 timing chain

If you start gettin' pricey with the parts you can also go gear to gear and eliminate the chain.

This is not an endorsement... I'm cheap!

Re: 258 timing chain

Yes, there is such a thing but they are a little pricey! 4WheelDriveHardware <www.4wd.com> has a mopar for $132. A regular timing set is about $25-$35.
You can also buy (if you can find one) a chain less set, gear to gear. Very good, used in high preformance equipment but a little noisey and pricey too!
If it only went 100K miles??????? Probably got other troubles too.

Re: 258 timing chain

I must be missing something, the title of the thread is '258 timing chain', so I figure the guy is probably working on an AMC 258, even without him posting it in his profile.

Re: 258 timing chain

DOH, that's the second time I've done that. I look in the post and the profile but forget to look back at the title of the post. Oh, well.
