Project \"Collateral Damages\"-Pics

Well I finally started was is a pretty big project for me ...strip the 99 wrecked TJ and slap engine and tranny in 1983 CJ7.
Striping the TJ this week-end, I found the following "collateral damages" :
Punctured Oil Pan
Punctured Power Steering Pump Fluid reservoir
Broken starter housing

What are you guys thought on fixing those damages ?

Should I pull engine and tranny all at once (save some disassemble/reassemble work)or one at a time ?

Any thought/idea/help welcome !

detach/unplug, but do not cut your wiring harness. it will save you loads of time later on. remove/install as a unit, do not piece meal it. change out oil pan while engine is removed from vehicle. change out other broken items after it is installed in CJ.

Re: Project \"Collateral Damages\"-Pics

When I wuz just outa hi skool I worked in a big wrecking yard on weekends as relief for the reg'lar guys. We got in a nice Chev-Lay with just a few miles on it that was wrecked ON THE WAY HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP! There was a bolt sticking right through the oil pan and everyone was CONVINCED that the engine was scrap. One Saturday, a farmer and his son came in and they desperately needed an engine for their Chev-Lay pickup. They didn't have much dough to spend and were willing to take the "broken" engine in the hopes that they could make ONE good engine from TWO cripples. Well, it turned out that the bolt was the bottom bolt in the OIL PUMP and the engine was, in fact, in perfect shape! Punctured pans are NORMAL in wrecks; so are wrecked assessories like pwr strg pumps. THAT's why it was a total.....

Re: Project \"Collateral Damages\"-Pics

Pull the oil pan, bang the dent flat so its just a crack, and weld or braze it. power steering pumps shouldnt be too hard to come by. my question is, what are our plans for the transfer case and or the front axle? I mean, if you use the TJ Case, youll have some issues getting the F Axle hooed up- or are you planning to swap the TJ dana 30 out too?
