throtle cable for 350 swap?

ok im trying ot figure out what to do about a throttle cable for a 350 swap with an edlebrock 1400 series carb. i tried drilling out the opening in the stock cj7 throttle cable end but it ended up breaking off after pumping the gas a few times. what do yall with 350's use?

Re: throtle cable for 350 swap?

good question. one that most who've done the swap don't answer. I'm in the middle of doing this swap and wonder the same question. From what i'm told, most guys use the cable from the vehicle the engine came from. for instance, if your tree-fiddy came from a camaro, try to use the cable from the camaro, and go from there.

btw, what did you use for radiator and hoses?

Re: throtle cable for 350 swap?

I just did this swap w/ a tbi motor. I used the original cable from a 1/2 ton truck. I had to cut the end (at the pedal off) and use an aftermarket cable clamp to get the length right, but it works great. Just make sure you get the clamp tight enough that it won't slip when you mash the gas. I set mine to have just a little slack at idle, and it'll still pull the throttle all the way open when you floor it.

HTH and good luck!!!

I'm confused?
Will the cable not fit on the ball or will are there other problems?
If it wouldn't fit on the ball, you can buy new throttle balls or whatever from oreillys for cheap.

You went where for hoses? Advanced Auto? What did they tell you? Your message is confusing.
