SWAPPING 9\"DRUM BRAKES TO 11

I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANYONE HAS SWAPPED IN 72-76 CJ 11" DRUM BRAKES ONTO A OLD CJ WITH 9" BRAKES?IS IT A DIRECT BOLT ON ?WILL THE DUEL RESIVOR MASTER CLINDER WORK FROM THE NEWER JEEP?

I've swapped axles a few times and in the process moved my 11 inch brakes to each of the new axles, both of which previously had 9" brakes. It is basically a direct bolt on. You need the 11" backing plates along with the rest of 11" brake components. The only thing I'm not sure of in your application is the master cylinder. Your old one "might" work. The new one "should" fit. I know thats not much help, but I do know the brake swapping is straightforward and simple. Maybe this helped some.

I swapped the 9" brakes on my 67 Cj to 11 brakes using a kit I bought from Hick,s. I guess it is the same stuff as the later CJ's. I don't know if the backing plates had been drilled, they might have been, but that isn't a big deal to do. I kept my single master cylinder and it works fine. Everything I've read says my 67 should have a dual master cylinder, I guess maybe mine was an early 67, who knows? Anyway, I replaced it with a new one at the same time(no one could tell me if a dual one would fit my brackets, and I was itching to drive it). I also converted the front to disc brakes, and the whole thing works great, but two things: I haven't hooked up the parking brakes yet(will need to build some brackets for the cables on the frame) and the front brakes drag just a little because of the residual valve in the master cylinder. One of these days I'm gonna pull it out and then put one inline to the back brakes.
