OT Lawn mower parts

I know this is not a lawn mower site, but I have tried everything else.

Can anyone tell me where I can find used Murray Lawn mower parts?
I have a broken carb on my 14 hp and the parts place is qouteing me 140.00 for a new one. I have tried all over the internet, and all the junk yards and mower shops in our area and cannot find one. anyone have any ideas?

Re: OT Lawn mower parts

Since it's probably a Briggs&Stratton, send me BOTH the model & serial numbers. My pappy did that for 25 years and still has a 40' semi trailer full of stuff. All new, but at a steep discount over Northern, etc.

Re: OT Lawn mower parts

CarverDave, this doesn't help RioGrande any, but if you have a bunch of lawnmower/B&S parts you might try doing this:

US Lawn Mower Racing Assoc.

Rio Grande, I have a John Deere 10hp Snow Blower that the local shop quoted me MORE to buy a new flywheel (the magnets had fallen off that tell the engine when to fire) then to buy a replacement engine. My brother in law who is Da MAN when it comes to small engines (his family owned a large logging company before they got shafted by Boise Cascade--besides driving truck and operating any piece of equipment you care to name, he spent a lot of time keeping the chainsaws running) glued the weights back on, tuned her up, and I'm running it (hard!) three years later. Again, I know this doesn't help you any, but I do know what you're going through. Sometimes I think it is cheaper to rebuild a small block chevy than a Briggs!
