engine parts source needed

I am (re) rebuilding the 4.2 in my Commando. I usually hang out over on the Jeepster/ Commando board but I embrace all makes and models. (Enough of the PC speech, on to the ?)
I did a quasi-rebuild (rings, rod bearing, seals, etc.)a few months ago that turned out to be more trouble than it was worth. I am now going to pull then engine and do a full rebuild. I am looking for advice on a source for the parts. I will need pistons, rings, pins, rod and main bearings, and possibly a cam and lifters. I have looked at the PAW ad in 4wheeler and they want $315 for all of the above except lifters. I can get the lifters and new push rods for about $75. Does this seem reasonable? I am going to take my time in the rebuild to have the Jeep ready for the Fall wheeling season. It is not my DD.
Any other suggestions of what to look out for?
It will be reassembled with a 4.0L head swap and a Cherokee factory header. It already has new oil pump and pickup, new timing set, new water pump, Offy intake, Holley 390 cfm, and GM HEI distributor.

I know, at least, it will look better than this. This is what it looked like when I bought it.
