Holley carb idea (pic)

Hello,

I have a holley carb (list 8007) and i was getting upset that it couldn't handle big bump and angle so i did a little mod but, since i am not an expert i would like your point of view... It has a bad tendency to let the fuel come up by the breather when it get shake...So i did my level, put nitril bowl and offroad needle and seat...it became a bit better but still...
So, i though of using plastic hose to direct the fuel far away from the carb...
i bought 6mm inner diameter plastic hose (around 0.24 inch) and plugged them on the outlet and put some silicone around.I drilled 2 holes at the bottom of my round KN air filter box and pass the 2 hoses in to fix them far away under the driver's entry (they are 1.5m long, 4.9 feet...)
Here is a schema of what i am trying to explain about the carb...

Well, i whish i still had my digicam!!!
Anyway, i started the jeep and it runs nice (as good as before at least!!!), so, do you think i should go to test drive it, put this thing away or add a thing???
Thanx and don t laugh too much please, i am trying my best!!!

Re: Holley carb

That's basically one of the ideas Holley put into the Truck Avenger Carb. they ran a tube between the two holes that had a series of holes for venting. it was for this exact reason. I was thinking abou doing this to mine too.

you can kinda see it in this little picture, but you have to look close.

Re: Holley carb

You have to vent the bowl within the air cleaner in order that changes in restriction of the air cleaner don't alter the air / fuel ratio. That's intentional by design. The current setup maintains that any pressure drop caused by restriction of the air cleaner element produces an equal pressure drop on both sides of the bowl and venturi, thus no change in metering. Go with the avenger carb idea or just longer vent tubes to reduce spillage into the venturi.

Re: Holley carb

I used rubber fuel line to connect both fuel bowl vents like the avenger with about 1-1/2" of the middle of the hose opened up. I also put a hole in the middle and slipped it over the air cleaner stud. That was before fuel injection and I don't have a picture of it.

Re: Holley carb

Hummm, as my pseudo says i am french so i have to say that i may not understood all you wrote ...
Anyway, if i understood you tell me that i can run the hoses as far as i want only if i don't use an air cleaner because of the difference in pressure between the inside and the outside of the cleaner???So, i have to keep the end of the hoses inside my air cleaner to have equal pressure in my bowl and in the air cleaner???
If yes, can the hoses be long, since the longer they are the less chances are that they will be full of gas and start to spread it in the venturi...
Well, i whish you understand what i am trying to write...
Thanx for your help

Re: Holley carb

Why not forget the running of the lines away from the carb, just take one length of hose and plug it into both ports. put a few holes in the top of the hose and call it a day?
