O/T Lifter Tick with 97 Subaru Boxer Engine

If my CJ was only so easy. My wife's daily driver is a 97 Subaru station wagon. From day one, all the Subie dealerships I've taken this car too have said the push rod/lifter tick is normal for this type of engine. With 75K on the engine, I still can't get over the noise. There is no loss of power or oil but the tick drives me crazy. Of course it is worse on start-up than after the engine warms up. I use 5W-30 as the manual inidcates. There is no adjustment. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks :-)
