Premium Cap & Rotor - TR

TR always says to get the premium cap and rotor with brass terminals. Do you mean the premium cap from Autozone, Checker, etc. or do I need to go to NAPA. Is there a particular brand I should ask for? I have always used the Borg Warner, I know they are not brass but are they any good?

I am going to mess with the advance springs and change the Advance Limiter Stop to see if I can get more out of my 258. I am also going to attempt to check the rotor phasing.

Wish me luck!

If you know anyone with an account at a Ford dealer those parts can be cheap . If not just ask for a cap with brass contact points . I would`nt give ya 2 cents for the aluminum ones .

Mike, just ask for a BlueStreak at Autozone( I think they have em there) I know we got Bluestreak at Advance. If your local part store doesn't have Bluestreak ask for the cap with the brass terminals.

Also, did you get the tie rod situation taken care of. Did any of those part numbers i got for ya work?

I don't use them racing or with a supercharged engine, but the run of the mill brass terminal cap from the discount places will usually be just fine for daily driving.

Re: Premium Cap & Rotor - TR

MSD.
Crown and others build for MSD to MSD's specs, and there is none better on the consumer market.
(there is some factory prototype stuff around, but I'll never lay hands on it!)

MSD is reasonably priced, and if I need parts on the road, I can use off the shelf replacement parts with the MSD hardware until I get home...

There are only a couple of 'Stand Alone' MSD parts that won't work with the factory stuff. Most of it interchanges.

Re: Premium Cap & Rotor - TR

Don't mean to be a pest, but do you have a part number for a Cap + Rotor + Base Cap? It is for an 86 CJ7 with a 258 and the TR upgrade. If I can find the part numbers I can get Checker to order them in.
