I want cruise control...

I was looking on ebay and saw that there are factory kits available for the 98+ jeep tj's. I e-mailed the guy and he told me that it wont work with a 97... does anyone know why (not)?

Re: I want cruise control...

I will take a look at the instructions on the cruise we put in Eds but I thought that in had parts that said "for a 97 do this" I'll get back to you in a little while!

Re: I want cruise control...

Ok I found the instructions! There soaked but I got the pages unstuck. On the top of page one it states "For Speed Controle Installation on '97 models you will need this kit and kit #82204358. Red the sheet for that kit for different procedures on '97 models." So yes the '98 and newer kit is needed as well as that other kit! It took Ed about 10 hrs to put the kit in! And My ICQ # is 164036803

Re: I want cruise control...

I remeber when looking at my friends 97' that the intake set more to the drivers side and towards the front of the motor, while on my '00 it is more towards the back and center. Maybe that's the difference? Are you taking the hand throttle off? I've been wanting to put on a hand throttle is why I ask, but I already have cruise, so I have to come up with a way for all 3 to hook on. Just curious if you plan to do the same.

Re: I want cruise control...

Yup, i think it would hard to keep the TJ on the trails at 50mph on cruise... Cruise or stereo, both sound like a waste..

Re: I want cruise control...

since I have spent every dime I had on my jeep, I do not own a tow rig. Nor is there one in the forseeable future because I actually wheel enough to break things. the trails are between 5 and 13 hours away from here (each way).
............
besides....my 6 disk cd changer will work fine until I can find a cheap 10 disk unit...lol
