Dash Lights

I have recently bought a 1977 CJ-5 and am wondering if it is supposed to have a light on the spedometer so I can actually see it at night? As of now I'm just not driving it at night, but I may tape a flashlight near it soon. If there is supposed to be a light, how likely is it that the bulb is burnt out and how can that be fixed. I'm very new to the Jeep community and am now learning that old cars suck money like no other.

Re: Dash Lights

there should be several small bulbs that snap into the back of the speedo. turn on the headlights, mess with the dimmer switch and if still nothing use a circuit tester and make sure there is current. if there is, go get new bulbs, if not, trace the wiring and figure out where its messed up, splice, fix, get new bulbs anyway. also can try rubbing the connections with a pencil eraser to clean them, may just be corroded. but yup there should be lights. :-)
