Electric windows in hard doors???

Here's a crazy idea I thought of while I was holding my door open in the rain so I could roll up the windows on my CJ (the rollbar won't let me roll 'em with the door shut). Does anyone make an aftermarket electric window kit for the hard doors? A switch would fit much better than my handle crank. Or do I need to just buy a Cadillac? If so, does it work, or is it a piece of crap?

Quadratec has them for the XJ. <a target="_blank" href=http://www.thinkjeep.com/manufacturers/electriclife/> Leon Rosser </a> has them for the CJ. $214/both (I think)

Re: Electric windows in hard doors???

It's just a thought, but the CJ was capable of power windows. AMC was just cheap enough to use the same parts for the CJ and the Wagoneer. The difference... there were a lot more Wagoneers with power windows. I'd be in the bone yard looking at those doors and striping out the parts.

If you decide against the PW option, you might want to pick up some smaller cranks. I got these at the Carlisle PA swap meet - I think they are off the vent windows of a 60's Chevrolet.

Re: Electric windows in hard doors???

I have the electric windows for the YJ hard doors and they are sweet.
The switches even light up when the ignition is on.

What model/brand did you use? How did they fit? Where did you buy them?

Re: Electric windows in hard doors???

I'm not the smallest guy around.... but my doors are heavy enough without electric motors in them... or maybe you folks dont take them off as much as I do...
my tj had electric windows in its hard doors. I dont miss the doors, but I'm looking for something to stick in the hole where the switch was.
