CJ-Stock tire size for gear calculus?

What was the stock tire size the CJ7 came with in 1983 ?
I need that so that I can compute what my new gear ratio should be to turn my 33.

Thanks

Try either 215/65/15 or 235/75/15. Either will be close enough to give you the calculations.

Re: CJ-Stock tire size for gear calculus?

Remember.......you can figure this easily by using this method: TURNS PER MILE(old) X Rear End Ratio(old) = TURNS PER MILE(new) X Rear End Ratio (new) You go to the tire dealer and get the turns per mile of the stock tires, and multiply by the stock gearing. THAT NUMBER is then divided by the turns per mile of the new tires to get the new rear end ratio that is required.

The tire sizes that came on that year and other close years CJs was 205/75x15, 215/75x15, 225/75/15 and 235/75x15. Depended on trim level and other options.
