Re: Lift + SOA

SOA = Spring Over Axle.
It's pretty self-explanatory, and if you do a SEARCH on the board, you should be able to find some pretty good information about it.
At any rate though, you basically relocate the spring packs on a CJ or YJ from underneath the axle, to (that's right), over it.
This provides you with 4" (or more) of lift, plus it also give you more ground clearance.

Re: Lift + SOA

Cool, Figures, You'd end up knowing him huh? Ya, that was a nice rig. He actually ended up winching off, he got hung up on both diffs and lost all tire traction. But he was really cool to watch !

BTW Chris, Me and some buddies are planning antother uwharrie trip, this time we're planning on camping and getting away from the women folk. I'll keep you posted.

Re: Lift + SOA

Ricks rig is SOA & has 2.5" pro-comp springs with D60s and 38x14.5 SSR's, the fenderwells are cutout with TJ flares. He will rub the front flairs some with extreme articulation, but the pro-comp springs are pretty stiff:

My Jeep is SOA & has 2.5" Skyjacker springs that are *worn in* and are much softer & probably aren't much lift at all. I run 35x12.5 MT/Rs and have no rubbing, the rear fender was cut out with TJ flares, but the front is still uncut.

Hope that helps

Re: Lift + SOA

Little compared to the rest posted, but SOA+ 1" from SRS, CJ rear springs at all corners, 37" MTR's. 35" tires cleared fine w/o rubbing 37's are rubbing on some rear cage tie-ins so they will be moved.
