Wheel size for a 4-cyl?

Hey everyone, new Jeep owner here, and I was wondering - I know it's not smart to hook my new 2002 4-cyl up with 35" tires or anything like that, but what would be the biggest I could put on it without banging my head against a wall trying to get the thing to move? How about the most sensible? Just a hunch, but I doubt the 15" factory wheels are gonna cut it for off-highway drivin'. Let me know what you think!

Thanks!
Ashley

Welcome to the board.
Your wheels will be just fine. You can still fit a 31 on the with no problem. If your new to the sport of jeeping, then try it first. That way you can see how much you really need. They will do a good bit with no mods at all.

Shoulda, woulda - I would love a 6 but it's even more of a gas-hog than my 4, and being dirt poor...college etc...yikes. No fun. Thanks for the help though, I appriciate it!

Re: Wheel size for a 4-cyl?

I've owned a 2.5 and a 4.0 and I have seen no difference in gas mileage. But anyway, I had 30's on my YJ and it was fine, but it was a stick and I rarely saw 5th gear. I wouldn't advise 31's with an auto and stock gears...
