RE 4.5\" shackles

Are the shackles included with the RE 4.5 Extreme Kit, extended, and if so, what is the length (center to center) of them?
Thanks, OS

Re: RE 4.5\" shackles

I know they use a lift shackle, but I'm not sure how much. I believe it's only a 1/2" lift shackle.

Re: RE 4.5\" shackles

So that must mean the springs are only 4", right?

I've never measured the shackle length, but the standard buz is 4 inch spring lift and .5 inch shackle length.

this image shows how the stuff came with the kit. notice the nylock nuts on the shackles bolts. the center section of the shackle can be removed to loosen things up. The picture doesn't show the zerks on the other side, to grease the bushings. also the SB discos. track bar bracket. the extra long U bolts(the U bolt box had the procomp label). you can almost see the extended brake lines (pro comp).

but also notice the military style leaf wrap. Bolt clamp style leaf retainer. tapered leafs. and inter leaf pads.

SpeedBuggy: How do you like the ride, flex, and overall performance of this lift?

Re: RE 4.5\" shackles

I'm very pleased with the lift. It is 100% fantastic off road. On-road. It is a 4 inch spring lift. it suffers from the normal maladies of a big spring lift. I have a few on road issues. Bump steer and the rear is bouncy. The rear would probably be more supple with some weight back there (like a hard top). But I'm still experimenting with the air pressure in the rear tires to reduce the spring rate of the tires ( I'm running 26PSI right now). I've read that people run 33s in the rear at 18 PSI on the street. (Off-Road Adventures: April/may 2002 page 29 "New Meats, New pressure")

Re: RE 4.5\" shackles

Looks like some u-bolts still need to be trimmed. Mine were close to that long but after bending a few, I cut them closer to the nuts.
