Grooving Swampers--What works?

Any one have any experience grooving TSL's? What works and what was a waste of time?

I feel as if it helps on rock, more edges to bite. My last set of grooved SX's were worn at every edge so it seems the grooves were contributing to the traction. These are the new 42's.
