Tire Question

Hello everyone, I am new to the board and to jeep driving. A Month ago I bought a 72 CJ5 with 33 inch tires and they are getting a liitle bald and i was wondering what everyone would recomend on buying as my replacments. They are for all types of off roading. Mostly hard pact dirt and rocks, But i also enjoy going in the mud.

What does everyone recomend in this case. Thanks for all the help really appreciate it.

Re: Tire Question

Swampers are nice. I run BFG MT's. Do a search and you will find more opinions about tires than there are brands of tires!

Re: Tire Question

Ask 10 jeepers this question, and you'll get 10 differn't answers. Interco Super Swampers and Boggers are very popular. Goodyear Wrangler MT/Rs are becoming very popular. BFG M/T are the good ol standby. I'm running Trail Mark M/S in 33x9.50, and there is at least 2 guys running Bridgestone.

'Bout the only thing we will agree on is don't buy Thornbirds!

Please fill out your profile.

If this is a jeep that will see more street time than trail time, the boggers probably aren't the best solution.

Re: Tire Question

IMHO the bogger is the best tire OFF ROAD hands down. That is only off road, on road they definetly are not the best. If all you use your jeep for is off road use, and you dont mind paying the few extra bucks for them, go for it. You wont regret it.

If you want a good tire on road and a good tire off road, look long and hard at the good year MTR. Then the BFG would come to find, but I dont think they are as good on or off road as the MTR.

Good luck
Tony

Re: Tire Question

One thing I'll say about boggers--not much lateral traction. For straight ahead, they are great. Any kind of sidehill, and they slide a bit. Not really a criticism, just an observation. I've not owned any myself, just from playing with a friend's Chevy with them. I mentioned it to him, and he said he noticed the same thing.

Re: Tire Question

I have heared many good things about the boggers. Yes my jeep is just an off roading jeep so i dont realy have to worry about how the handle the road.
