Repairs to Plastic Radiator/ ford aod trans??

I got me a 1990 Crown Victoria with the 5.0 engine and (I'm told) the AOD tranny. I'm going to put the motor in my CJ5, but I would like to drive it a little before I yank it apart. Problem is there is a VERY small crack in the plastic radiator right above the upper hose. I tried "JB Weld"ing it, but it didn't hold. I went to ADVANCE auto, but everything they have says "not recommended for temps over 200 degrees.

Any cheap fixes?

Problem II. The Transmission won't shift into third or OD. This is the main reason I got the car cheap. But I don't wanna blow the engine up driving around in second gear. Does anybody know about this tranny? I'm assuming it's electronically controlled, so I was hoping there was a way to "trick" into shifting. I don't have a clue... just running this up the flagpole.

Again, I'm not looking for a complete fix, I'd just like to put some miles on this thing. Ideally I'd like to drive it for two weeks, but... if I can't fix the trans, I'm gonna have to yank it sooner.

Thanks!!
