Engine Conversion from 2.5 L to 4.0 L

I have a stock 97 2.5 L Wrangler, with a few engine mods. (Air Max Intake, TB spacer.) I want more power!! I would like to install a 4" Skyjacker lift, and 33 x 12.50 Procomp Xterrain tires. I was told I could change gear ratios, from stock to 4.56, or get an engine swap.
Which is the better way to go for the time being?
How difficult would a 2.5 to a 4.0 L swap be, and how much $$ might I be looking at?
I would really appreciate any input on this matter.

Re: Engine Conversion from 2.5 L to 4.0 L

I have seen many yj's running 2.5L with 33" and 35" tires. It's all in the gearing. Even if you do change your engine you are still should regear if you go above 31" tires. But then again if you are in a high elevation in the rockies.... you need the larger engine.

I personally think you would be better off selling your 4cyl TJ and looking for a 6 cyl one. I think you would spend more money in the end doing a swap.
