TJ-The axle debate goes on and on.......
I have a chance to get a front D44 for $1600 with the following specs:
'79 Ford RC D44 with:
-bracketing for a TJ (less the sway bar mounts)
-new ARB air locker
-new 4.56 gears
-new seals and bearings throughout
-new warn premium hublocks
-new warn high strength alloy shafts with new 5-760x u-joints
-new hubs, rotors, calipers, and ball joints
-Avalanche rock guard
-u-bolt style front yoke
I would pull and sell the ARB(just don't want it) and put in a Detroit, the thing is, I would have to covert my rear 44 to 5 on 5.5 and get another set of rims. This same guy has a set of Avalanche beadlocks that have been off the trailer one time(so he says) for $690, they are 15x10.
Or, I can get a XJ D30, put my alloy shafts in, get CTM joints and just worry about the ring gear going.
I have the cash to get the 44 but I don't plan on ever putting more power into my 4.0. Currently, I am running 37 MTR's with 4.56's. What would you do?????
