CJ - Wipers are binding

The linkage for my wipers seems to bind quite a bit if it goes past a certian point I took the linkage a part and tried to fix it but it tends to keep binding up. Did anyone else have this problem. got any fixes.

Re: CJ - Wipers are binding

typically that is caused by the windshield frame, no the linkage. The area where the wipers attach to the linkage thru the windshield frame either rusts or weakens from the movement of the wipers. The extra play that is created due to the deformation of the are of the frame allows the wipers to bind. I was able to reinforce that part of the windshield frame by welding in some extra metal. It lasted quite a while, then I eventualy replaced the windshield frame.
If you replace the frame, look for one that has the "reinforcing ribs" across the bottom under the windshield where the wiper connection holes are.

Hope that helped.
