CJ - I got some brake problems

Hey guys,
I was on my way home tonight and the brake pedal decided to go to the floor. The brake fuild is still full, I'm thinking the master cylinder. if I pump the brakes I get some brakes. what do you think?

Re: CJ - I got some brake problems

Sounds like a master cylinder to me, but I'm not a brake guru. We always replaced bad master cylinders when I was still doing fleet maintanence, but I believe there are rebuild kits out there.

I had the same type of problem. It turned out to be the master cylinder in my case.

If it just happened and didn't come on gradually, it's probably the master cylinder. It will probably come and go, if it does, it's definitely the master.

Re: CJ - I got some brake problems

Often if the brake warning light never comes on... it's the master cylinder because the pressure in each half of the proportioning valve is still the same.

If the problem lay in one of the two legs coming off the proportioning valve the pressure difference will trigger the warning lamp.

From the description it does point to the MC being bad... but vacuum bleed the brakes to make sure....

This is the Brakes we're takin' about here... you can't be too careful.

Re: CJ - I got some brake problems

well I put the New master cylinder on and took it around the bolck and still the same problem. so I drove it right back in the garage and was looking the jeep over and I found the problem. The bearing on the passanger front wheel are toast and the wheel was proball ready to fall off!! but I couldn't feel it! ( i know you'll probally say what was he smolin') but I really couldn't feel it! so The hubs toast , pads are toast bearings too, so I'm now looking for the how kuckle assembly to swapp all the parts off of one to the other. Damm this sucks!!
