removing dashboard and stock radio from TJ

I just got a new radio for graduation and I am installing it myself into my TJ. However, I have to first remove the center dashboard. On a TJ do you just pull and pry (carefully, that is) the dashboard off, or are there some screws you have to remove?

Re: removing dashboard from TJ

You pry the narrow part on top( where the center vent is) and the "center" has two screws on top and one in the ashtray.

Re: removing dashboard from TJ

Ok, I got the dash out (thanks AC97TJ), but here is part 2 of my dilemma. I did some searches on the Internet and it says that all you have to do is remove the 2 screws holding the stock radio in place and it comes right out. Well, I removed the screws and tried to pull it out but it wouldn't budge. And I mean I was REALLY pulling. Is there some other step that I'm missing that's not on the net? I don't see anything in the way. I see a couple of metal rods behind the radio that look like they might be holding it in place, but I'm not sure. Thanks.

Re: removing dashboard from TJ

My 97 tj radio didin't come out eaisily either, the antenna wire hung up. try reaching up through the glove box opening and un hooking the wireing on the radio and see if it pulls out. if it is like mine the wireing and 2 screws are all that hold it in.
