Got a question folks im restoring my CJ8 and started with the frount axel. Just got my new ring and pinion bearings in from 4 wheel parts and need to know if i should leave the pinion races in the axel or change them with the new ones. The only one im concerned about is the one closest to the inside of the bell housing as its a different design the the one i got with the bearing. The one that is in the axel has a much smaller opening the the new one.
Unless you like spending money needlessly, Do Not Use the old races. Bearings, like ^^^ said, are normally matched and should not be mixed. Bang the old ones out with a large punch and a BFH, and invest in a race installer to seat them properly. Good Luck [img]images/icons/laugh.gif[/img]
