Testing out the new camera on the Jeep

Just figured I would share some pictures of a 258 that is getting tired, along with the new shop that I get to use ( shop is old, but a new playground for me!!)

Re: Testing out the new camera on the Jeep

Nice pix, Bryan.....glad to hear that you've gotten some good use out of your YJ! I trust the vacuum disconnect is still working........

Are you going to rebuild the 258???

Take Care,
Jim

Re: Testing out the new camera on the Jeep

It's stills works perfectly!! As always, many thanks Jim!
I'm not sure if I'm going to rebuild or replace with a 4.0 yet. I love the low end of my engine compared to Jeepchicks 4.0. It still runs very strong, but it's blowing oil into the air cleaner assembly and ticking more and more. My biggest concern at the moment is replacing the Carter BBD on it. Constant problems.
I'm still pricing shops for pulling and rebuilding the engine. Whenever the $$ is there, I'll get it done. I'm also bargaining with some of my rental customers who own scrap yards and shops for a decent tranny. One guy told me that if I can tow a full size chevy pickup off his lot (blown engine), I can have it for free. The problem is that I would have nowhere to store it while picking it clean.
If Jeepchick and I don't end up looking for a house to buy this year, maybe I'll have the lift done and engine rebuilt by September.
I can wait for a house, not for the Jeep.

Re: Testing out the new camera on the Jeep

Well Bryan, I suppose you could park the Jeeps back to back and live in them for a while...

I had a bit of trouble with my XJ's disconnect some months back. The shift fork broke; I found out that some early XJ (84-88) D30 shift forks had bad castings. I found a complete shift motor assembly from a 85 XJ Wagoneer for about $20 from a junkyard and it works fine again. I don't know if the bad casting shift forks found their way into the Wranglers but it can't hurt to pass the info along. Good Luck!!
