Radiator & headers for a 400 chevy to cj7

What would I need to put a 400 cheavy motor in my cj7. Is there a radiator that would work that I could get in a junk yard that would fit,and work to keep the motor cool. I know that I can get a new one from 4WheelDrive Hardware. One is a 3 core chevy to jeep for $260.00 the other one is$600.00 and has 4 cores. Do I need a resevior for the antifreeze. Can I use the stock exaust system or do I have to run headers, if I need headers what ones do I need. I don't need the HP from the headers. I want to keep the motor as close to stock as I can.

Re: Radiator & headers for a 400 chevy to cj7

I am using a 4 row 304 V8 radiator with the hose inlet / outlet switched for my Chevy 350. I'm also using a 17" electric fan. I'm using bolt in motor mounts from M.O.R.E., which will keep the close to the firewall but still have room for the larger HEI distributor.

I have been thinking about letting the 400 go and trying to find a 305 chevy. I think that I would have less problems in the long run. I like the idea about the 4 row radiator from a 304. What did you do for exaust. How do you switch the inlet and the outlet on your radiator.

Re: Radiator & headers for a 400 chevy to cj7

First I'd like to say, I used to have a job selling auto parts. This allowed me some favorable prices on the parts I installed. I used some engine conversion Hooker Headers. I had to cut the inner fender to use these headers. I then added some glass pack muffers to the headers and my exhaust system was done. Most radiator shops can modify the AMC 304 radiator hose inlet / outlet to work for a GM engine.
