Dana 44 ?\'s

I am posting this here because I think you guys probably have the most exsperience with Dana 44's.

I have a Dana 44 front axle from an 81 Cherokee Cheif. I am going to use it to swap to solid axle on my Nissan. There are a few things I have to do to it before I can start my swap. It is a 6 lug with manual hubs and no vacuum anything. It's leaf under sprung and does not have the bolt on steering knuckle.

One is, I need to go through the brakes. this 44 has single piston calipers. I would like to switch to dual piston calipers. What do I need to do or what truck do I have to salvage them from? Or does anyone know if I can bolt my Nissan brake system to this axle?

The other question I have has to do with the Hi-Steer for the spring-over I plan on doing. Can I use the knuckles off another truck? What truck do I need to look for to get the knuckles? I know I have to buy the kit, but I just don't want to buy the knuckles as well (at least not new).

I need to stay 6 lug through all of the changes that is the only thing I have to stay with. Thanks for your help.

Re: Dana 44 ?\'s

You can use 70's waggoneer or chevy dana 44 knuckles. The advantage of the chevy is it will already have the steering arm holes drilled and tapped on the driver's side.
