YJ: Size of t-case check plug?

I was trying to check the fluid level in my NP231 transfer case on a 90 YJ, and come to find out I don't have any wrenches that will fit the check plug.
I've got some adjustable wrenches, but they are to big to be able turn. I know it's bigger than 1 1/4", because that's the biggest combo wrench I have, and if I have to buy a socket or a wrench, I would like to know exactly what size it is.

Off hand I'd say a 30mm fits it the best...

I drained the oil out of mine on saturday. I had to use a big old Crescent wrench.

a large crescent will work but the socket is better of course. don't remember the size offhand but you can either mic the plug or take it to napa or equal and find the socket to fit. remember, no jap crap

It's 1 and 3/16ths.
It will save your knuckles.
