CJ- quick flywheel + 360 question

The 258 is leaving way to many marks on the driveway, and I think it is time for the old power plant to move over and let the 360 claim its territory.

I need a standard shift flywheel and am pricing what they cost new. In 4wd hardware they have a "standard shift flywheel assembly 1972-1991 AMC 360 V8 engine, includes #2 ring gear installed SFI approved 37lbs billet steel. $249.99"

or

"standard shift flywheel assembly 72-91 AMC 360 V8 engine factory style replacement. $139.99"

which do I need and why?

Also if I was going to get my 258 fly wheel rebalanced to 360 specs ( which I have been having a hard time finding) would I get it balenced to 37 lbs like in the first one ?

thanks for the help,
Tony

ok i'm not positive but i think the #2 is refering to the teeth on the flywheel you say installed so i'm thinking the 139 flywheel has no ring teeth wich is common

Re: CJ- quick flywheel + 360 question

the expensive one is billet steel mthe cheap factory one is cast steel, which means its just like original, the bilet is better material

the cheap one is fine for you, it may or may not coe with teh ring gear installed, It probably does for that price.

Re: CJ- quick flywheel + 360 question

jeep dealers used to be able to order them ( uI heard they wuit this year) BUT its very likely they can find one thru the parts network from another dealer, they were at the $139 price range, just like the cast ones from 4whdware.

Ive seen a few used on the internet in the $50 and up range.

just post wanted ads everywhere there is a Jeep site, and find the cheapest one.
