258 bogging on startup

When ever i start my Jeep (78 with a 258 and stock YF 1 barrel carb) it acts like it's bogging. It lopes at idle and won't start quickly until I hit the gas pedal. It does this every time not matter how long it's been running or how many days it's been since i started it. dont get me wrong it does start every time it's just that it doesn't have any response and it bogs until i give it some gas. let me know what you guys think.

Re: 258 bogging on startup

2 things I would check are choke operation and idle mixture adjustment and idle circuit blockage. In a 78, if the carb has never seen
a rebuild, it's probably time.
