Gear change done, detroit in the rear!!!

Got the gears(4.56's) installed today along with the detroit. I haven't had it on the highway yet but on the slow roads it seems fine. The guy that put them in for me said that the rear drive side was perfect but the coast side could've been better, it was about 1/2-3/4 on the teeth. As long as he was happy with the install, I guess I should be happy, after all, it didn't cost me a dime to get them put in. Gottal love those hobby shops

good choice, i'm running 4.56's and detroits also,
when i set up used gears its sometimes not possible to get a good drive and coast pattern, so i set up a good pattern on the drive side myself......

Gotta love that detroit, got one in the back of mine. You running a manual or auto. In my auto it doesn't sway you around on the road as Ricks new rigs manual did...

Gregg, you set up your own gears? Did someone teach you how to do it, or did you venture out yourself. We were thinking about giving it a shot, have to buy the tools though... seems like a really good jeepin' skill to have.

hey mel,
ya, i set up my gears, (i've set up about 50 or so in the last couple years) and i did venture my first gear change myself, i've also learned alot since then. if you can have someone show/help you the first time it really shortens up the learning curve.

Mel, I've got the manual. The driving isn't that bad on the highway.
