Weight is not significantly different from a stock body.

Re: stainless steel jeep on Ebay

I thought stainless was about 1.5 times heavier than normal steel. That would make it pretty heavy. Or am I wrong?

Re: stainless steel jeep on Ebay

Sorry, but I think you're wrong. I can't find definitive data, but I have a steel supplier catalog that lists 1018 (cold rolled mild steel) 1" square bars at 3.403 pounds per foot, and 304 (stainless) 1" square bars at 3.400 pounds per foot.

I also have a reference book that lists steel at 495 pounds per cubic foot, and nickel, which is the main component of most stainless steels, at 541 pounds per cubic foot, or about 9% more than steel.

Either way the difference isn't significant, and I have to believe that the catalog weights are pretty good since they're used for shipping purposes. Stainless always SEEMS heavier though.

Re: stainless steel jeep on Ebay

I keep looking at that....its pretty cool....Does it have a FLUX CAPACITOR?....Mr. Fusion?....kinda like a DMC-CJ....the Delorean Jeep! How did they get the panels pressed like that? Now a gold CJ would be cool...just dont park it anywhere "questionable"....

Nope, don't remember Funny car sunday, but do remember Heart like a Wheel about a female rail driver whose name I would remember if I wasn't drinking southern comfort right now....
