I don't remember seeing 502 v-8 listed as an option at the dealer? Must have been in the 70's!!

IT'S NOT AVAILABLE IN ANY GM VEHICLE, IT'S ONE OF THEIR CRATE ENGINES.

Umm it's not an option in any vehicle produced, now or in the past. A 502 crate engine is just that, a crate engine sold by your local Chevrolet dealer. You order one and it shows up in a wooden crate. They didn't begin to offer these engines until the '90s either.

A 502 is a stroked BB chevy.
They fit into a Jeep the same as any big block. They are a little tight, but many people run them.

I grew up in Washington myself Nickmil. I remember the unlimiteds up on Lake Washington. Remember the Miss Budwiser, Pay-n-Pak, Squire shop and others. I also remember the first turbine powered Unlimited. Thought it was kinda unfair. Love the sound of a big Allsion or Merlin (or Griffon). A big Pratt and Whitney is awesome too!

Griffon.....Drool. What about a Napier Sapier (spelling) the ones they used in Typhoons and Temepsts 2200 HP.

Nah Id just as soon have one of what the Queen Elizabeth II has in its engine compatments, 17000 Hp and about a billion ft lbs.

Yeah, kind of a sad day when the turbines came out. Kind of spelled the end of an era. I was up there at the Emerald Cup when the Miss Budweiser took it's real bad tumble. That was one of the years the Blue Angels put on their air show.
I remember the parties at the Columbia Cup. Some wild times . My uncle lived in Kennewick and would let me and my buddies camp out in his family room for the week.
I really miss those days sometimes. Being able to take off on the spur of the moment, no family to worry about....
Ah drat, I'm getting all teary-eyed now .

My previous post was an attempt at sarcasm. I guess I will have to be more obvious in the future.
