Gas tank skid plate
I have an after-market 21 Gal. gas tank that I bought from 4WD Hardware, to replace my stock 15 gal tank. The supplied bolt-on adapter plates, combined with the stock skid plate, appear kind of flimsy. I never had much faith
in the stocker anyway. Does anyone know of any aftermarket vendors that make an upgraded skid plate for this configuration? I called Four X Doctor, and they advised that their plates are manufactured for the stock 15 and 20 gal tanks.

Re: Gas tank skid plate
Is it a plastic tank? why don't you measure the outside dimensions and then call back to 4X doctor and see if it may work. One gallon more is not much, if indeed it is a 21 and not 20. I have really wanted to get one of those skids from 4X, I just don't have the extra $$$ for it. I am waiting for my factory 20 gallon skid to take a few more hits. It looks like those 4X doctor skids are well built for the money!

If it's a steel tank and you haven't mounted it yet, couldn't you just weld on a piece of 3/16 plate to the bottom? Seems that would be the easiest way to beef it up and protect it.

You can try these guys, they advertise a 20 gallon tank, but then say call for custom colours and configurations. I got a TJ skid plate from them, man is it beefy, way better than the stock piece of sh!t.
