Pass it by. If you don't know what additional problems you are buying, you are just asking for trouble. There are plenty of used Jeep Wranglers for sale. Get one that is in better condition. Good Luck!![img]images/icons/smile.gif[/img]

i agree with xjy173 on looking for another one. but if you must buy it, any YJ front axle will work. keep in mind that you need to make sure that the axle you get to replace the damaged one has the same gear as the one its replacing. 4 cyl. have a 4.10 and 6 cyl. have 3.73 (i think).

It could be soemthing as simple as a leaky, lost, or missing vacuum hose....but since this vehicle was TOWED often...and the owner doesnt sound too knowledgeable about it...they probably never disconnected the rear driveshaft...and since that wrangler has an NP231J transfercase, which has an oil pump...i'd steer clear of that wrangler....YJ's are a dime a dozen....
